Dr. Houston

Dr. Houston

Veterinarian

Dr. Houston started The Pet Hospital in 1992 as a place to provide the best veterinary care for pets and their owners in a great environment.

He graduated from Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. He earned his master’s degree in biology from the University of New Mexico and a teaching certificate from the University of Texas in Austin.

Prior to becoming a vet, Dr. Houston taught science for several years for middle school, high school, and college.

As the son of a geophysicist, he has lived all over the world, including Singapore, England, and more states than he can remember.

In his spare time, Dr. Houston enjoys adventure runs around the world, hiking, camping, and being outdoors with his dog Petey.

Dr. Morgan

Dr. Morgan

Veterinarian

Dr. Morgan was born and raised in Colorado. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Oberlin College. Her love of all creatures great and small took her overseas, and she graduated from the University of Glasgow’s School of Veterinary Medicine in Scotland in 2010. Following graduation, she worked in Maun, Botswana for the Worldwide Veterinary Service, a charitable organization providing veterinary teams and sustainable veterinary resources to impoverished areas and animals greatly in need. She, then, worked for two years in a small animal practice on the east coast of England near Canterbury, followed by several years in American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited practices in Greeley, Colorado, and Pismo Beach, California. In 2018-2019, she completed a specialty degree at Massy University, New Zealand, in epidemiology. She has a special interest in exotics, wildlife, and canine and feline geriatric medicine. As a contributing photographer for the World Wildlife Fund, she combined her passion for both photography and wildlife conservation. In her spare time, Dr. Morgan enjoys skiing, freediving, surfing, and ultramarathon running, as well as the excellent company of her English rescue cat, Jelly Tots.

Practice Manager

A San Diego native, Brittany has been working in the veterinary field since she was 17, and she has been a part of our team since 2013. Outside of the hospital, she spends her time keeping up with her daughter, two Chiweenies (Baby Dog and Dash), and her newest rescue, Foxy the chihuahua.

Registered Veterinary Technician

Originally from Atascadero, CA, Tiffany has been living in San Diego for seven years and has been with us for three years. Tiffany graduated from San Diego Mesa college’s Animal Health Technologies program in 2015 and is now working as a registered veterinary technician at The Pet Hospital. She and her husband have welcomed their first fur baby Tucker, a German Shorthaired Pointer in January 2020. So she spends her days off at the dog parks, beach, or just taking him hiking.

Veterinary Assistant

​Native to San Diego, Isela has been in the veterinary field since 2015. She came to us after working at the animal shelter as well as other private practices. When she is not working hard at the hospital, she is taking care of her two fur kids: Mia the Jack Russell Terrier and Jayden the lab-pitbull mix, both two years old. She also loves spending time with her family and friends. Isela is working on furthering her career in the veterinary field by taking her boards to become an RVT.

Veterinary Assistant

Born in San Diego, my love for animals started as a kid when I would bring strays home. Attended school at PIMA medical institute in the veterinary assistant program, graduated in 2014. Did my externship at Lakeside veterinary hospital. Moved on and did some work at a groomer as a bather. Then worked a little bit at El Cajon Valley Veterinary Hospital as a receptionist. Now working at both WAG hotels and the pet hospital. My free time is spent hanging out with my 9-year-old daughter and my 6-year-old miniature Dachshund.

Veterinary Assistant

Kylie recently moved to San Diego from Wisconsin with her husband, Australian Shepherd Audie, and 2 cats Stella and Guinness. Kylie graduated from the veterinary technician program in May 2021 and is looking forward to taking her California state boards in the spring of 2022. Kylie is fear-free certified and loves helping scared pets have a more comfortable and enjoyable experience when going to the vet. Her hobbies include anything she can do with her fur baby, from hiking to duck diving.
Sarah

Veterinary Assistant

Sarah has been a part of The Pet Hospital family since May 2021, and she has been working in the veterinary field since 2007. Sarah graduated from SDSU in 2007 with a master’s degree in Psychiatric Rehabilitation. Sarah and her daughter love spending time at home with their 4 fur babies, Blue the sweet Staffordshire Terrier, Pepper Poppet, the cutest Frenchie, Zoe Zombee the baby Sphynx, and Flash Gordan, the chubby Maine Coon. Sarah’s hobbies include collecting dolls, Acutonics (which is an energy-based non-invasive treatment that is like acupuncture), and Entomology (the scientific study of insects).

Receptionist

Born and raised in San Diego, Angela has worked with animals since she was 19 years old. She has done most of her work with parrots, waterfowl, dogs, and cats. Angela worked as a Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist for 6 years before deciding to work solely in reception. When Angela is not at work she is spending time with her fiancé and two boys. Angela currently has no pets but is always keeping her eye out for her next rescue.

Receptionist

Originally from Colorado, Cyra grew up in a small farm town where her love for animals began. Cyra joined our team in July 2021 after previously working as an assistant manager at a dog groomer, and prior to that, a cashier at Petco. When she is not working Cyra, and her wife have another full-time job taking care of their 9 fur babies. 3 cats; Skipjack, Mackerel, and Anchovy, along with 6 dogs; Flying Dutchman (Giant Schnauzer), Mako Shark, Mama Odie, Tornado Potato, Tsunami (all French Bulldogs), and Ween Bean (Chihuahua). Cyra also enjoys reading, Dungeons and Dragons, magic gathering, board games, and video games.

Groomer

Lori graduated from San Diego Grooming School in 1980. With over 35 years of grooming experience, Lori has a special interest in German Shepherds and Shih Tzus. When not grooming, she enjoys solving cryptograms.
